He asked, she said yes!

August 16, 2012 is not only a day I will never forget, but one I will cherish!

It actually didn't start out so great. I woke up that morning with a migraine. It was bad enough that I had to take some prescription medication that didn't allow me to drive, which also meant I wouldn't me making it to work that day.  I called my boss to let her know, called Leatham to let him know (since he was coming in for the weekend), and prepared to try and get rid of my migraine. Little did I know I was ruining more than just my plans to go to work.

Leatham continued to check on me through out the day to see how I was feeling.  Luckily the medicine worked and I didn't have to take more than the one pill I took in the morning.  Early in the afternoon Leatham asked me how long before I was able to drive. He said that his mom was looking for some embroidery software and was wondering if I was able to drive down to Best Buy and see if they had it there before he ordered it online. I let him know I should be able to drive by late afternoon. He said he would just call and see if they had it before I drove down to get it. I was waiting to hear back on if he needed me to go get when I got a knock on my front door. I was a little confused because really I should be at work, not at home. So I went and looked out the peephole, but nobody was there. So I opened the door and there were some beautiful flowers with a note! Leatham had left me a beautiful arrangement of Hydrangea, which according to Irish tradition represents Devotion.

I followed the instructions on the note which took me downtown to the restaurant where we had our first date, Bacci's. At this point I thought Leatham would be there to take me to dinner and he had come up with a fun way to get me there. I got to the restaurant, but no Leatham. Instead there were more flowers and another note. This time he left me a bouquet of Irish Orchids, which according to Irish tradition represents Luxury.

This note took me to Bee's Stadium where we had gone to our first baseball game. So now I was thinking Leatham had come up with a reason to get me out of the house and he was sending me all over Salt Lake City and eventually I would end up back home and he would be there with dinner made. There was no game that night so I had no idea why else he would send me there. I got there and nobody was there, except a lady standing by the main entrance holding some flowers. I must have looked confused or lost because she asked me if the flowers were for me and I told her I thought they were. Apparently Leatham had left the flowers there and two people had tried to take them and somehow this lady now had them and was holding them until someone came to claim them.  I'm still not sure how she ended up with them or who she was, but I'm grateful for her.  I got my flowers and another note. This bouquet was Bells of Ireland, the traditional Irish flower for Weddings.

By now I really wasn't sure what he has doing, I had an idea but I just kept thinking, "No, I'm not going to let myself think he's proposing because then I'll just be disappointed when he doesn't" So I kept going with the clues. This note took me to Sugar House Park, where we had celebrated the 4th of July, our first holiday together.  I went to the park and went to where we had sat to watch fireworks. Leatham was there waiting for me.  He had another bouquet of flowers. This time is was white roses, which according to Irish Tradition represent Respect.

I read the card and before I could even say anything he started telling me how much he loved me and how happy he was that I was in his and Tanner's life. Then he got down on knee, held out the most beautiful ring and asked me to be his wife.  By this point I was crying so hard I didn't actually give him an answer I just nodded and hugged him. Later when he asked for an answer I told him yes, of course!!

My Beautiful Engagement Ring. Leatham designed it.
Leatham made this day so special. He found a fun way to propose that took me on a little trip of some of our first memories (which I almost ruined by taking medicine that made it so I couldn't drive) and he put so much effort into getting Irish flowers with specials meanings knowing how much my Irish heritage means to me and that I want to make sure it's part of my wedding. He also designed an original ring for me. He said all the rings he looked at were nice, but they weren't good enough for me. I needed something different and original that nobody else had because there is only one me. I absolutely LOVE my ring and he couldn't have designed a more perfect one for me! I am so lucky he chose me!

Leatham and I the night we got engaged!
